The Countach LP500 prototype debuted in 1971; production followed in 1974. Marcello Gandini’s wedge shape and scissor doors replaced gentle curves with a deliberately angular statement. Later cars added more visual hardware, but the low, forward-reaching profile remains the central idea. Its inclusion reflects how strongly a silhouette can communicate a supercar’s purpose. It is a design judgment, not a claim that the Countach pioneered every element it used.
